Thank you for your interest in IMS!
We strongly encourage familes to come and observe this fall if you are interested in a space for next fall. Our classes are always full and they fill up quickly. Once you observe, you can fill out an application and put your child on our waitlist, this does not obligate your child to attend IMS, however, it goes a long way in ensuring there is a space for your child.
Our enrollment process for the Academic Year 2009-2010
Interested families will receive our information package with:
• Outline of Enrollment Process
• Welcome letter
• IMS Brochure
• Tuition information
• Observation schedule
• Schedule and dates for the Presentation of IMS (Head of the School)
Step 1 - Observation: Please select a date that you will be able to observe the classroom of your choice. It is your responsibility to contact the office to schedule an observation. Observations are scheduled between 8:50am and 9:10am. In order to ensure the best use of your time and the time of the teacher, it is recommended that you do not bring your children to the observation.
Step 2 - Application: At the observation you will receive an Admissions Application. Complete application in full (one per child) and mail it back to us at least a week before you schedule your individual interview with the Director. There will be a $45 dollar processing fee (per child) for all applications submitted.
Step 3 – IMS Luncheon and Slide Show Presentation (Optional): Our Director, Dr. Kateri Carver-Akers, will provide a power-point presentation and a light lunch for any parent who would like a visual image and further information about our school. While this event is optional, we recommend it because it provides an opportunity to answer all general questions. Presentations are held once a month and are optional. If you are interested in coming, please RSVP to the office at least two weeks in advance
Dates for the luncheon are: Tuesday, December 2nd; Monday, December 15th; and Friday, January 16th.
Step 4 – Individual Interview: Parents should call or schedule a personal interview with our Director at or after their observation. The interview is a review of your child’s admissions application and will allow for more one-on-one time to get to know each other. All specific questions from the observation will be answered at the interview.
Step 5 – Admissions Decision: We accept applications year-round; however admission to our school depends on space availability and compatibility, so it is important to complete the enrollment process as soon as possible. If you are accepted you will receive in the mail:
• An Acceptance Letter
• Intent to Enroll Card
Send the “Intent to Enroll Card” back with your $550 enrollment fee within two weeks of receiving your acceptance letter. You will then receive a contract, which must be signed and also sent back to the office.
Step 6 – First Tuition Payment/Summer Camp Info. (March/April):
• First invoice – Tuition Payment #1 for 2009-2010 Term will be due March 2009
