BUILDING THE DREAM TOGETHER

EMPOWERING GLOBAL CITIZENS

Since 1996, International Montessori School  has been a pillar of multicultural education in the Triangle. IMS remains the sole trilingual language immersion school in the region and has developed a close-knit community of families, alumni and partners that value language, culture, diversity and inclusivity.

GROWING OUR COMMUNITY

The demand for an IMS education has steadily grown, prompting us to expand beyond our Durham campus. Families have embraced our commitment to cultivate a love for learning, language, culture, nature, and community through the Montessori approach. Students leave our community bilingual and biliterate in French, Spanish or Mandarin Chinese by third grade, preparing them for a global society.

In 2020, we acquired a 37-acre property in Chapel Hill, marking our first significant step towards expanding our physical footprint. The generosity of our supporters propelled the land purchase, the completion of schematic designs for the property, vital site work to repurpose existing buildings for educational use, and extensive renovations to accommodate our elementary programs. In the 2023-2024 academic year, we are delighted to serve 62 students on the Chapel Hill campus, with an overall enrollment of 165 children from toddlers through 6th grade across two campuses.

As we look to the future, additional funds raised will help us build the infrastructure to add middle grades, launch supplementary language programs outside of school hours, and host family-friendly events on the grounds that bring together the Triangle’s internationally-engaged community.
